What is work?

July 3rd, 2008

Watching Red Dwarf videos, going for a walk, skyping friends, downloading podcasts, answering the phone, hanging up on scammers, reading old essays, cooking dinner, searching for mountain biking videos, collecting the mail, drinking Moroccan mint green tea, using Twitter, recording a podcast, writing a blog post, reading other blogs, checking out flickr pics, reading the paper, driving 30 km and back to pick up a new computer, writing a proposal, sending emails, answering emails, tracking delivery of some iPods, trying to connect to do a podcast (and failing), listening to the radio, doing google searches, lighting the fire, putting on a load of washing, going for another walk, getting caught in the rain, reading the comics in the paper, doing the sudoku, making appointments for next week, returning telephone calls, trying to set up eCommerce on a web site. All in a day’s work.

And what would you consider to be ‘real’ work, or is most of it just wasting time?

It’s the sum of ALL these experiences that make us who we are. It’s all work. It’s called living.
